Wetland Grasses

I’m really pleased with the development of our wetland grasses. We built this wetland 5 years ago. It’s purpose is to filter water that runs off our hillsides prior to leaving our farm. The duckweed covers the water which is a good sign of it being healthy but also uses nutrients as it grows. The duckweed is tiny leaves with a single root that sucks up nutrients and then falls to the bottom.
We also have tall water grass that the filters the water. Lots of birds and wildlife always around as well.
And the most important result is the water is visibly cleaner when it leaves our farm!
