Spring Tours

It's pretty and green at the farm this time of year. Makes it a great time to come visit! We're always more than happy to host tours year round but spring and fall tours are always a little more enjoyable because it's not super cold/hot and the fields are green and we have baby calves running around.
We're a little behind schedule in the fields due to the wet/cold weather but we finally made some progress yesterday getting the planter out in the fields. Of course had some mechanical repair issues with the planter but our crew got everything fixed up and out in the fields so it's nice to have that done.
With the cold / wet weather we were able to "work" cattle. When we say "working cattle" it can mean a variety of things but usually consists of bringing them into the barn to run them through the chute to weigh them, make sure they have eartags, sort them, and then send them back out to new pastures. We can keep pretty detailed records on each of the herds this way to determine rates of gain and divide/combine groups based on size/gender/age etc.
