Fischer Farms Natural Foods Announces Exciting New
Partnership with the Indianapolis Zoo
St. Anthony, Indiana – June 8, 2023 - Fischer Farms Natural Foods, a trusted provider of high-quality products for almost 20 years, is thrilled to announce its recent partnership with the Indianapolis Zoo. This collaboration marks an important milestone for Fischer Farms Natural Foods as they broaden their market reach, making their sustainably raised meats more readily available to the over 1 million annual visitors of the Zoo.
Fischer Farms Natural Foods takes pride in partnering with buyers who share their commitment to supporting local agriculture and promoting regenerative farming practices. Building on many successful partnerships such as Indiana University Dining, Butler University, and many regional distribution brands, this new collaboration will extend their ability to deliver fresh, wholesome products to a wider audience.
"We are delighted to welcome the Indianapolis Zoo to the Fischer Farms family," said Dave Fischer, owner of Fischer Farms Natural Foods. "By expanding our network of partners, we can bring our high-quality products to more people in Indiana. This partnership with the Zoo and its visitors is a significant step towards our goal of fostering a healthier, more sustainable food system in Indiana. "
The Indianapolis Zoo is committed to offering foods that are farmed and harvested in ways that are the least impactful on our environment. These intentional vendor choices support their organization-wide conservation efforts and serve as a real-life example of clean eating to their guests. Representatives from Sodexo Live, the Indianapolis Zoo foodservice provider, took a “field trip” to Fischer Farms recently that included Zoo Chefs and the company’s corporate director of Sustainability Molly Crouch, who flew in to experience the farm for herself. The group discussed their shared vision of sustainability and how they could ultimately enter into a partnership.
Fischer Farms employs several methods to support more sustainable practices, such as local thoughtful distribution, making use of shipping partners to ensure less time on the road, as well as regional pick-up locations and home delivery for consumers. On farm water conservation eliminates the need to utilize public water sources for animals and crops. Their use of rotational grazing and carbon capture helps improve soil health. Finally, raising their animals without the use of growth hormones or antibiotics as well as minimally processing without additives, preservatives, or other fillers are examples of their responsible farming practices.
“Fischer Farms has been the perfect addition to Sodexo here at the Indianapolis Zoo,” said Anthony Stepp, the Executive Sous Chef for the Indianapolis Zoo. “The product is always premium, fresh, and they make the ordering so easy. The guests here at the Zoo, whether it is through smash burgers and brisket at concession stands or fully dressed strip loins and roasts for catered events, really appreciate knowing our products come from a local, sustainable and eco-friendly farm. You can't forget the flavor and marbling that comes from their stock, it's second to none. “
