Busy Week on The Farm

Busy busy week on the farm!
The fields were finally dry enough to get in and we cut our ryegrass again. The cool wet month of May kept the ryegrass growing and we got approximately 15 tons per acre of grass silage. We store this in our bunker where it ferments and then feed it in the winter.
We started cutting Sunday and ran our chopper long hours on Monday-Wednesday. We fixed some ditches and hauled manure on the fields on Thursday and on Fri/Sat/Sun will plant these fields back into corn for silage.
These fields are producing an amazing amount of forage for the cattle and are keeping healthy by having a green plant growing all year round. Ryegrass growing mid-September through May when it’s cool, Corn June/July/Aug during the heat.
